SAP BW 7.4 Query

Hello, I was reading some documents about BW 7.4. There is a concept called Open ODS View, I want to know if this is the same thing as write optimized DSO or is it only used when we bring data from outside of SAP, or do we create it when we are brigning data from BW in to HANA studio? I see this is created in SAP HANA Studio.
